Pink Magnolia

So the next piece in the series is started! woo! I didn't take an earlier progress cap, but... I am very pleased with how this one is coming along.

At this point I just have to decide what route I'm going to take for the full show. Do I stick with the flora/fauna? Do I try to get anything else? Am I doing painted macros? I am not sure. I guess it'll have to evolve over time. :)

Revisiting Older Photography

Well, in a bit of fun news I was approached today about doing a Solo Exhibit as part of the Art Hop at the CNM sometime next year. Yay! The big problem with this is, other than the artwork I did while AT the CNM.... I am sorely lacking in work. I've only just really gotten back into painting, as you can see from this blog. The good news is I have at least a year to get my act together. And this is great incentive.

Thanks to that, I am looking through all my photography for references for new paintings. I am finding stuff I definitely forgot about... and while it isn't quite right for the theme I'm considering; I still like some of it. They're not all fantastic, stellar, award winning Photographs. But they can't all be!

This one was taken at Prophet's Town Living History Park in Lafayette, Indiana. My Granddad was a docent for them for many years and we loved going out to visit. I was trying to take an artsy picture of the wheel, which I did. BUT- I had no idea that they were lunging one of the Belgian Cream Drafts in the background. I just happened to catch this picture when the horse was centered on the open barn door. That's the main reason why I love this photo.

This one is Monkey on our trip down to SC all those years ago. All like, 2 and a half of them. She's such a photogenic cat.

This would be one of the big churches in Savannah that I can't remember the name of.

And that's all for now. :)

Canvas Printing

So, I decided that I loved my Redbud painting. And how not? After finding out it won an award with a monetary prize attached, I decided that I could justify actually having it printed and stretched on Canvas. It took awhile to find someone that would stretch in the aspect ratio I needed for this piece, but I did it! One of these days I will learn how to make my paintings a standard size. Really I will.

Anyway, it came the other day and it is even better than I thought it would be! I am so thrilled. Now to just figure out where to hang it..

People have asked if they can purchase this piece; the answer is yes. I am happy to make additional canvas prints. This particular one is 18x12 and is priced at $150 mailed directly to you from the stretcher. If you want paint embellishment on the print, or my actual signature somewhere, then you're looking at $175 to cover additional shipping and handling. If you want a different size, smaller/larger, talk to me and we'll work something out!

Still working steadily on the Thoroughbred Country Visitors Guide. We got the first set of proofs back, and the final round of revisions are ready to upload this morning and hopefully that means we'll be to print by the end of the week! WOOOHOO!

Redbud on Display

The wonderful and amazing Lisa took some photos of my painting on display at the CNM Alumni+ Art Show, and also let me know the great news tonight- I won one of the show's awards! She thinks it was the Producer's Award, which is a huge honor. I'll correct this post when I know for sure.

Anyway, onto the pictures... Redbud on display at the Center for New Media.

The area of the Gallery where my piece is:

See? On the TV! I'm famous!

And here it is. I'm impressed, it looks way better on the giant screen than I thought it might- I didn't know if it had the resolution or not! But it definitely benefits from back lighting. Aaaah. Happy sigh.

I only wish I could have actually been there. That would have been amazing. But- thank you everyone for the lovely comments about this piece! I'm beyond thrilled with it. And thank you to the CNM Alumni+ Group for putting on the show!

Did I do enough excited sentences?! !! ... Sorry! hah.
